FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:30 am. Friday, October 10th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dublin, with Military Honors and cremation to follow.

William "Bill" Thomas Orthel was born on Feb. 12, 1935 in Mason City, Iowa. He went to be with his LORD on Oct. 6, 2014 at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 26 days. He was the son of Henry Orthel and Marie (Quinn) Orthel. In 1940 he moved to a farm east of Titonka, Iowa and lived there until he moved to Dublin , Texas in 2004. He was a 1952 graduate of Titonka High School and attended Iowa State University. He was united in marriage to Virginia Studer on Feb. 17, 1958 in Wesley, Iowa and to this union 7 children were born. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Caroline.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Orthel of Dublin, Texas; 3 Sons, Michael Orthel of Iowa City, Iowa; Paul Orthel of Killeen, Texas; and Thomas Orthel of Milford, Iowa. 3 Daughters, Michelle Lincicum of Garner, Iowa; Celeste Reason of Sheffield, Iowa; and Marilyn Neas of Fruita, Colorado. 12 Grandchildren, 4 Great-grandchildren; his sister, Cathrine Faris of Middletown, Ohio and a host of other relatives and many friends who will miss him dearly.
He was a Cutting Horse Trainer and farmer; member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dublin, the Knights of Columbus for 50 year and a veteran of the U. S. Army.
His life was his family and raising, training and showing horses.
