Wilber Stockton passed away Monday morning April 9 , 2018, surrounded by family at Seton Medical Center Williamson in Round Rock, Texas.  Wilber was relentless; always curious, always available to help others and an upbeat, outspoken optimist who lived life to the fullest each and every day.

Wilber was born under blue skies in Dublin, Texas on March 27 , 1929. He was the son of Mable Rose and Bert Stockton who owned the Patrick Street Shoe Store. Wilber was one of five siblings, including an identical twin brother, Warren. Together they got into many adventures on the local green fields, including the football field.

Wilber is survived by his son, Eric Stockton; daughter in-law, Susan Stockton; grandchildren: Saxon, Luca, and Phyllis; his sister-in-law Cathey & her husband Charles Pendleton; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Wilber married the love of his life, Joy Vaughn, on December 27 , 1952, and they were together for 60 years until she passed in 2013.

He served in the U.S. Army, building early warning radar stations in the Arctic during the Korean War.  Throughout his life he was an avid aviation enthusiast and pilot.  Wilber loved to barnstorm in his Stearman PT-17.

Wilber received his degree in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech in 1958 and had a long career as an engineer where contributed to numerous industry and national security projects.

After retiring from TRW in 1990, Wilber spent the rest of his life touching lives and doing service in the community. Wilber had many friends and never knew a stranger. His more recent years were spent as part of the retirement community at Lakeline Oaks in Cedar Park, Texas, where he helped others with everything from computers to sound systems.

He was a proud and dedicated grandfather who contributed to his grandchildren's education and many other endeavors. Wilber also had a great passion for music and bought his youngest grandchild her first harp. He took her to lessons and sat in the front row of every performance. She is now playing in a local symphony and winning many awards at the tender age of 14. His legacy lives on in her playing and in the many works and contributions of his son's family which Wilber affectionately called his "Wild Bunch." He is loved by many and will be missed by all.

Services will be held at Harrell Funeral Home in Dublin, Texas at 2 pm on Saturday, April 14 ^th , with interment to follow at Live Oak Cemetery.
