Obituary

FUNERAL SERVICES: Graveside, 2:00 pm. Saturday, Oct. 11th in Cow Creek Cemetery near Dublin, Texas.

VISITATION: 10 TO 12 Saturday Morning at Harrell Funeral Home.

Wanda Francis Havis was born on Dec. 15, 1931 in Dublin, Texas. She went to be with her LORD Oct. 8, 2014 in Houston, Texas. She was the daughter of B. K. Fanning and Francis (Raye) Fanning. She was united in marriage to Joe Havis on Sept. 6, 1952 in Dublin, Texas and to this union 2 children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shirley Norris.

Wanda supported Joe as he pursued his degree at the University of Texas and the couple embarked on a 62-year journey together that included a brief stint in the oil business and a 20-year military career with assignments all of the U.S. as well as Vicenza, Italy and Hanau, Germany. Wanda held the family together Joe was deployed on two tours in Vietnam. Following military service, the couple settled in Houston where they spent the last 35 years. Wanda worked in the banking industry for a number of year and enjoyed travel, time with family and following area sports teams, and was a member of the Spring Baptist Church.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Ltc. (Retired) Joe Havis; son, Donald and wife Lisa of Bellingham, Washington; daughter, Debbie Pitts of Austin; grandchildren, Jaimie, Laura, and Christopher Pitts of Austin; and her sister, Bonnie Read of Medina, Texas.
