Roy Dale Matthews, passed away on September 21, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on February 24, 1945, in Dublin, Roy lived a life marked by kindness, humility, and a generosity that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Roy was an avid fisherman who found joy on the water, and he loved motorcycles, embracing the freedom and adventure they brought. More than anything, he will be remembered for the way he treated others. He touched everyone’s heart with his humble and giving nature, and he was known as someone who would give his last penny to anyone in need. That quiet generosity and genuine care for others became the hallmark of his life.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Matthews; his parents, Geneva and Blackie Matthews; and his daughter, Elaine Keith. Their memories remained an enduring part of his life and story.

He is survived by his daughter, Pat Esquell, and by his sisters, Patricia Favor and Jenny Olson, and 7 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on September 24, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on September 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Cottonwood Cemetery, 273 County Road 527, Dublin, Texas 76446.

Roy Dale Matthews will be remembered with love and gratitude for the goodness he gave so freely. His life was a blessing, and his memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
