Richard Wade Cowan, 67, passed from this earth to his heavenly home on July 21, 2026.

Richard was born on November 8, 1958, in Dublin, Texas, to Rich "Wade" Cowan Jr. and Patricia Ann "Pat" Cowan. He was proud of his Dublin roots and the values of hard work, integrity, and family that shaped the man he became.

Richard graduated from Dublin High School before beginning a life devoted to his family. On March 20, 1982, he married Jalea McCoy.

Their greatest joy was raising their three children: Richard Jr., Matt, and Jessica. Richard was a devoted husband and father who found his greatest purpose in caring for and providing for his family.

Richard was an extraordinarily hardworking man whose dedication to his craft was unmatched. Alongside his father, mother and wife he owned and operated Hoka Hey Fine Arts, a bronze art foundry specializing in western bronze sculpture. Creating bronze art was more than a profession; it was Richard's passion and life's work. Anyone who knew Richard knew what his work meant to him and the pride he took in every piece that left the foundry. Those who knew him often said they had never met a harder working man. The countless bronze sculptures created through Hoka Hey Fine Arts stand today as a lasting testament to his talent, craftsmanship, and relentless work ethic. Through those works, Richard's legacy will continue to endure for generations.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Pat Cowan.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Jalea Cowan of Dublin, brother Jimmy Cowan of Dublin, sisters Teresa Jones of Cedar Park and Nancy Cowan Delk of Dublin, his children, Richard Cowan Jr. of Stephenville, Matt Cowan and wife, Britney, of Burnet, and Jessica Cowan and Chris Hicks of Stephenville. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Grace, Kre, Lainey, Logan, Taylor, and Carson, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Richard will be remembered for his incredible work ethic, quiet strength, unwavering devotion to his family, and the legacy he built through both his craftsmanship and the love he shared with those around him. His life was one of dedication, sacrifice, and enduring love. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the family he cherished and in the timeless works of art that bear the mark of his hands.

 A graveside service will be held at On Sacred Ground: Cowan Cemetery, Saturday July 25, 2026, at 10:00 am.
