Nancy Linda
Ervin (Doggett)
December 16, 2020
On Wednesday, December 16th 2020, at 4:52 a.m in Stephenville, Texas, loving wife and mother of three Nancy Linda Ervin (Doggett) took the Lord's hand and went to her permanent home in heaven after losing the third battle in her war with cancer.
She was born on March 4th 1941 in Dublin Texas to Mr. Denver Alexander Doggett Sr. & Eula Mae Doggett (Carr). She was raised and lived in dublin and surrounding areas her entire life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Carl & Lula Mae Blain, her in-laws Chester & Elsie Ervin, her brother Denver Doggett Jr., her sister Perry Ann Jeter, 1st husband (Father to her 3 children) Donald Blain and several lifelong friends.
She leaves behind a husband of 40 years Gary D. Ervin, 2 sons, Kevin Blain & wife Natalie, & Andy Blain & wife Anna, 1 daughter Samantha Blain-Shifflett, 2 brothers: Phillip Doggett, & Dr. Kelly Doggett & wife Tawnya, 4 Grandsons; Jordan, Jacob, Joshua & Joseph Blain which she lovingly called her "Ninny's Boys", several nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces, countless cousins, many other children who she took under her wing becoming their second mom, and hundreds of friends she made throughout her life.
She was known by her family and childhood friends as Linda while others knew her as Nancy. No matter which name she went by they all called her "Friend". She loved Sunday dinners with family & friends playing games at the dining table and telling wonderful stories of the past. She had an amazing artistic talent in many forms including drawing, cooking, oil painting, crafts, crocheting, woodworking, gardening, cake decorating, and many others. Her words of wisdom & guidance gave us something to pass down down to the next generation. She was world-renowned for her stubbornness and never held her tongue with a knack for telling it like it was. She was genuine to a fault, the sweetest kitten at heart, a vicious lioness in protecting her family & friends, and never sugar coated anything. Her extensive vocabulary was more than highly proficient at knowing more words than most people learned in a lifetime and never a cuss word among them.
She loved being a country girl on the farm with Gary but had such style and grace as any socialite. While her children were teenagers, She decided to return to school attending Tarleton State University and became the first in her family to graduate college. She had a long career in Social Work helping others and made friends everywhere she went. Her undying love of others will never be forgotten.
She had one final pay it forward gift on her long list of things she did to help her fellow man. She has given her body to the UT Southwestern School of Medicine so that future nurses and doctors could continue to learn from her.
She lives on through those who knew her and are blessed to have memories of her. So, join us in having a "Celebration of Life" memorial to share your personal stories and memories of such a wonderful woman which will be held in lieu of a service on January 30, 2021 at 1: 30 pm at the Patrick Street Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, We would like donations to be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
We love and miss you mom!
