Obituary

GRAVESIDE SERVICES: 10:00 am. Friday, March 24, 2017 in Dublin Liveoak Cemetery with burial to follow.

A devout musician, an extraordinary teacher, and an elegant entertainer, Maxine Belle Lane Prindle was born May 26, 1928, in Dublin, TX in Earth County to the late Katherine Kight Lane and the late John Lincoln Lane. She left this earth for heaven on March 19th, 2017, in Longview, Texas.

She graduated from Dublin High School in 1945 and then attended North Texas State Teachers College in Denton, TX, which later became North Texas University. She was constantly overjoyed at being a part of such large number of musicians. She graduated in 1948 with a major in music education with an emphasis in voice.

She met and fell in love with Hershel Prindle; the couple married on August 7, 1948, in Dublin, Texas. They were blessed with three wonderful children and fifty-four years of marriage.

The couple moved to Norman, Oklahoma for Hershel to start graduate school and then to Austin, Texas for Hershel to work on his Ph.D. in chemistry. He graduated in1953 before landing a job for Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, TX. Maxine felt like she was moving "to the jumping off place." In time, she made peace with the area and started to enjoy living on the Texas Gulf Coast.

Maxine's career in music started long before she had a formal degree. Around five she started playing the tambourine and enjoyed it immensely. In fourth grade, she played the cornet in the band and took violin lessons. She sang in weddings throughout her childhood. She continued in the band, choir, and orchestra in high school. Maxine also played the C Saxophone. Even though she participated in many forms of music, singing was always her first love.

In the late 1960's Maxine started classical guitar lessons in Houston, Texas. Later she started teaching private classical guitar as well as ladies guitar classes. She helped form a ladies' singing group called "The Folks."

In 1983 she was offered a six-week substitute music teaching job. She then accepted a full-time position teaching music at Stephen F. Austin Elementary and Jane Long Elementary until she retired in 2003.

Maxine was in the adult choir and The Singin' Saints at First Baptist Church in Lake Jackson, and she never missed a chance to sing and praise the Lord with others.

She loved all of the arts. She made jewelry for many years. After retirement, she created artificial flower arrangements for First Baptist Church. She decorated her Christmas tree year around: Valentine's Day tree, St. Patrick's Day tree, Easter tree, etc. Her creations brought beauty and joy to many people.

Her family is left with many wonderful memories of Maxine, Mother, Mema, Aunt, and sister that will always be remembered in the book she wrote, To See the Day Go By. Her book, detailing 500 years of ancestor history researched alongside her beloved brother Kight Lane, was dedicated to her descendants. She trusted that they would cherish her family's heritage that was close to her heart.

Those who survive Maxine wish to thank her many personal caregivers, the caregivers at Hawkins Creek Assisted Living, and the nurses and staff at Hospice of East Texas who made the last months and days of her life more comfortable.

She will be remembered by son, Bryan and wife Susie; daughter, Evelyn and husband Richard; son, Mike and wife Kathy; seven granddaughters, Carolyn, Marlana, Julie, Elizabeth, Christina, Jennifer, Katie; niece, Julia; and one great granddaughter, Zoe.

She was greeted in heaven by beloved grandparents, H.L. and Loree Kight; uncle, Max Kight; daddy and mother, Lincoln and Katherine Lane; husband, Hershel Prindle; brother and sister-in-law, Kight and Harriet Lane; niece Virginia Lane Bolzern; and all her cousins.
