Obituary

Karen Sue Garner was born August 13, 1966, to Jack and Janice Garner in Hico, Texas. She passed peacefully on her own terms September 15, 2026.

Karen graduated from Rankin High School in 1984. She started her retail career at the Perry’s Store in Rankin. She ran stores in Cleburne, Bryan, La Grange and several other locations before returning to Dublin. She then began a 30 plus career at St. Gobain in Stephenville.

Those who knew Karen know that she marched to her own drummer. She never got in a hurry, but if she was ready, by golly, you should be too. She was an honest, to the point person. Her sweet soul and smile saved her from her brutal honesty more than once. You never had to wonder where stood on anything. Whether she agreed or disagreed with you, she remained true to herself and her friends. If Karen loved you, she loved you big and you knew it. Whether you met her last week or in 1969, she remembered you and what you visited about. Karen’s laid-back personality and sweet nature truly made the world a better place.

Karen was proceeded in death by her grandparents, Clay and Twinkle Garner and Jay and Jayne Currier, and her mother, Janice Garner.

Karen is survived by her father, Jack Garner, and a sister, Vonda. her aunt, Ann Riley, and cousins Buddy and Cynthia Riley, James and Connie Riley, Gene and Cathy Riley, Randall Riley and Gail Riley, and her pets, Gracie and Clarence T.

The last year has been brutal, and the family would like to give special thanks to Bo Pettijohn, Allison Blackman, Hiedi Craddock, John and Cathy Cox, Gene Riley, Lori Wright, Bill Young and Toby Koonsman. Without your love and support we would have had a much more difficult time. We love you all!

Memorials can be made in Karen's honor to Dublin Animal Shelter c/o Dublin City Hall 213 Blackjack Dublin, Tx 76446, or a charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 18, 2026, at Harrell Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00PM. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Proctor Cemetery at 2:00PM.
