John Davis Yancey, 68, passed away on February 12, 2021 in Proctor, Texas. He was born on August 29, 1952 in Big Springs, Texas to his parents Jefferson Davis Yancey and Willa Deane (Dupuy) Yancey. John  retired after faithfully and honorably serving over 20 years in the United States Army. He earned his bachelors degree in Criminal Justice at Tarleton State University in 1983. John married the love of his life Mona (Hornsby) Yancey on May 26, 1973 and together they had four sons.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Dwayne Yancey and Roger Yancey, his sister Beverly Diane and nephew James Sheffield.

John is survived by his wife Mona Yancey, his sons Jay Yancey, Jerred Yancey, Jonathan Yancey, and Jeremy Yancey, 17 grandchildren, his brother Steve Yancey, one niece, numerous nephews, family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 1:00 at the Harrell Memorial Chapel in Dublin, Texas.

Service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 2:00 at the Harrell Memorial Chapel in Dublin, Texas.

Interment: Oliver Springs Cemetery in DeLeon, Texas
