Florence "Flo" E. Allen joined the LORD in Heaven on March 5, 2018. She was the daughter of Thomas Elmer Thackerson and Irene (DeBusk), born in the Cottonwood community of Erath County on March 13, 1927.

Flo married Nobel Allen.

She was a college graduate, majoring in Elementary Education and Resource . Flo was a teacher for several school districts. She retired from Hempstead ISD in 1991. Her family said she was a school teacher by trade and loved to share with anyone interested in her knowledge of Texas history. She also had such a giving spirit, sharing what she had with others.

Flo was a member of Cottonwood Baptist Church of Glen Rose and an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma since graduating college.

She was preceded in death by her husband on December 3, 2006 and two of her sisters, Faye Gooch and Juanita Davis.

Flo will be remembered by her daughter - Debbie Turrentine of Cresson; her granddaughter - Sarah (Turrentine) Ledford of Austin; her grandson - Michael Turrentine of Round Rock; her three great grandchildren; her brothers - Sonny Thackerson of Dublin, (Pete) Elmer B. Thackerson of Gustine; her sisters - Sally Jackson of Weatherford, Artie Mohler of Cedar Hill, Nora Carter of Dublin; and many other relatives and friends.

Donations will be accepted to help offset funeral expenses.
