Dorothy Nell Barnes, 90 passed away June 30, 2019 in DeLeon, Texas. Services will be held July 3rd at 10:30 a.m. at the Comyn Baptist Church with Pastor Ray Seckinger officiating and burial to follow in the Comyn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at the Harrell Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.. Dorothy Barnes was born June 18, 1929 in Alexander, Texas to William Edward Houk and Anna LaUna (Hines) Houk. She was married to Jack Barnes on Feb. 10 1951 and to this union their daughter Tracie was born. Dorothy was a telephone operator and a partner with her husband in farming peanuts, watermelon and cattle throughout her life. She was a very active member of the Comyn Baptist Church for fifty plus yeas. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She loved quilting, crafts, oil painting and ceramics. She and her husband were awarded in 2002 Farm Family of the Year by the Deleon Chamber of Commerce. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, on June 5, 2005. She is survived by her daughter Tracie Day of Fort Worth; her granddaughters Shanna and her husband Chad Brooks, Rachel Day and Jessica Day; her great granddaughter Kristi Day; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
