Curtis Darel
Turley
October 28, 1932 – October 10, 2018
Curtis Darel Turley was born on October 28, 1933 in Erath County, Texas. He entered Heaven's gate on October 10, 2018 at the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 10 days. He was the son of A.G. Turley and Bertha (Merrill) Turley. He was united in marriage to Dortha Jean Christian on January 16, 1954 in Stephenville, Texas, and to this union two children were born; Vicky Arlene Stone and Darren Curtis Turley.
Curtis graduated in the last class from Alexander High School and then served in the U.S. Army. After a brief time as a carpenter, he spent the next 50 years as a dairyman in Erath County. Curtis served on the DISD Board of Trustees. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dublin, Texas.
His greatest joy was time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved "making memories"-- from fishing with Vicky as a child, to riding the waves at the coast starting when Darren was 10, and many years thereafter building sand castles on the beach with all the grandkids. He loved eating popcorn and playing games with every generation. Even in his late years, he would get in the floor and play with the grandkids and greatgrandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, three brothers, and an infant sister. He is survived by his wife: Dortha Turley of Dublin, TX, his daughter and son-in-law: Vicky and Gary Stone of Dublin, TX., and his son and daughter-in-law: Darren and Deanna Turley of Dublin, TX., his grandchildren: Landon Stone and wife Michelle of Dublin, TX., Lindy Smith and husband Dustin of Aledo, TX., Jaclyn Turley of Dublin, TX., Madison Turley of Dublin, TX., his great grandchildren: Carter, Grant, and Reid Smith, and Sadie Stone, one brother Buck Turley and wife Bennie; and numerous other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Curtis had a saying, throughout his life, that resonates in all the family even today: "It Will Be Alright".
