Curtis Ray Giles was born on December 5, 1933, in Love County, Oklahoma, to Cecil and Aline (Porter) Giles. He joined his Heavenly Father on September 1, 2026.

Curtis moved to Saginaw, Texas, when he was six years old and later moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he graduated from Diamond Hill High School.

On January 21, 1955, he married Neysa Kemplin in Fort Worth, Texas. Curtis was a wonderful husband and very involved father who doted his daughters with tremendous pride.

He was a National Guard veteran and a lifetime member of the Baptist Church in both Fort Worth and Gustine, Texas. He was a member of the Tarrant County Masonic Lodge No. 942 and later demitted to Hope Lodge No. 481 in Comanche, Texas, maintaining a Masonic membership spanning 70 years.

Professionally, Curtis was a machinist. He began his career in 1954 at Convair Aircraft and later moved to Bell Helicopter in Hurst, Texas. After a short period of time, he transferred to the Bell Helicopter Machining Center in Grand Prairie, Texas. He later joined the Project Engineering Department, where he remained until the conclusion of his professional career, completing a total of 29 years with Bell Helicopter.

In February 1989, after retiring from Bell Helicopter, Curtis and his wife, Neysa, moved to Gustine, Texas. He always said he left an office job and came to Gustine to work. His new life was one of total enjoyment through all the laughs, tears, and many sore muscles. He always acknowledged that it was the best 38 years of his life.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Aline Giles; his brother, Cecil Murl Giles; and his grandson, Johnathon McKinney. 

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Neysa Gilesl; his daughters, Marcia Darnell and husband Tom, and Nancy McKinney and husband Mark; his grandsons, David Darnell, Brian Ward, and Nathan Darnell and wife Callie; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Gustine.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Hope Lodge No. 481, 604 N. Austin Street, Comanche, TX 76442.
