Obituary

In loving memory of Carl Lee Woolsey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our Daddy's life was tragically taken on August 24, 2020, at his home in Comanche, Texas at the age of 71. After a lengthy process, we are finally able to peacefully honor him with a proper burial.

Carl was born on January 2, 1949, in Comanche, Texas to his parents, A.D. & Alma (Johnson) Woolsey. He grew up in Carlton, Texas, and was among the last senior class to graduate from Carlton high school. We've been told, by former classmates, that he was a basketball "star" back in the day. He was an Army Veteran and served in the Vietnam War where he received several medals, including a sharpshooter (rifle) medal. He was Honorably discharged on March 15, 1972. He was known for spending time with his family, playing his guitar & singing, playing poker with family (once in 1978 for 38 hours straight), watching football as a true fan of the Cowboys & 49ers, and fishing every chance he could get.

He will be remembered for his contagious, loud laugh, watching old westerns, and his love for music, but only the "oldies" - country & western, Buddy Holly, Elvis, gospel and Fats Domino. He always sang along. Most of all, he will be remembered for his Unconditional Love for his two daughters & grandchildren, his ability to never meet a stranger, and his big, generous heart that made him always willing to help anyone in need. He will be missed by many friends and family.

He leaves behind a legacy of showing kindness, love and generosity, as well as a deep enjoyment and appreciation of the simple things in life. His daughters often referred to him as a Simple Man.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, A.D. & Alma Woolsey; brothers: Jerry Wayne Woolsey, Edwin (Bubba) Woolsey, Kenneth Woolsey, Charles Woolsey; sister: Beverly Woolsey; Paternal & Maternal grandparents, as well as many uncles & aunts. He is survived by his 2 daughters: Sheila Woolsey, Alma Richardson & husband Mike. His grandchildren: Clayton (Kim), T.J., Logan (Morgan), Faith, Kloe (Trey), Rhett & Abella. Great grands: Grayson, Oliver, Lana, Bexleigh, Riata, Montana, Beau, Loretta, Madelynn. Brother: Loyd Woolsey, 2 Aunts: Shirley Sullivan & Sandra Kuykendall and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 6-8pm at Harrell Funeral Home in Dublin Texas.

A Military Honors Funeral will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 2pm at the Dallas-Fort Worth National cemetery in Dallas Texas. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
